Today Aunt Sherry and Uncle Jason took me to Pine Bluff. We surprised my daddy by picking him up at the bus station. He decided to move up here to be closer to me, his sister, their Mom and Grandma. There's better work up here too and he's going to work at 6 in the morning. He's going to stay with Nana and Grandma until he can get his own place. Boy was my daddy surprised to see us at the bus station! We spent the rest of the day at Nana and Grandma's, and I got to show daddy all the new tricks I can do!

Saturday August 28, 2004

I got Aunt Sherry up at 5:30 this morning. Of course, I went right back to sleep after my bottle. I am beginning to realize the power I have over the people in this house!

I am getting so much better at putting things in my mouth. I love my little toys, but I sure wish that darn cat would hold still! He slept on Emmy's bed last night so I wouldn't be afraid. He's such a nice cat. Aunt Sherry says I'm older than Miracle, but he can already walk and he has tons of hair! Why can't I walk? When do I get hair?

My daddy called today. Aunt Sherry says he is moving up here tomorrow. I can't wait to see him! I will still live with my Aunt Sherry and Uncle Jason though. But that's fine with me, they love me and play with me, and they have lots of carrots!

We didn't do much today. We stayed home for the most part. We did go to town to pick up my cousins. Then we went to Wal-Mart. I got to meet Aunt Sherry's friend Cindy. She has lots of kids! They all think I'm cute! Especially Rob. He doesn't have much hair either! But such pretty blue eyes! We smiled at each other and he held my hand! He's a little older than me, born the same day as my cousin Jacob. Too bad we can't see each other again until winter. His sisters have chickens at their house, and one of them has West Nile, so we can't play together at their house until after the first frost. I don't understand any of that, but I trust Aunt Sherry.

Well, we're going outside to play now, so I'll talk to y'all later!

Hello world! It's me again! And I'm excited to be here! I'm a bundle of energy today! I discovered that I can scoot across the floor (or couch)! I'm getting the hang of this independant mobility thing. Watch out Aunt Sherry! I managed to get 4 feet across the living room floor before Aunt Sherry caught me. Uncle Jason saw me and he teased Aunt Sherry about me showing off for him and not her. Hey, I'm a girl, we learn fast, I know which one's most likely to cave in when I want something like a cookie once I have teeth!

I did something else new today too. I laughed! Aunt Sherry laid me on her bed to draw my bath, and while my water was running, she was playing with me, and she tickled me under my arms. I couldn't help myself, I giggled at her. She tried to call my daddy, but couldn't find his number, so she called my Nanna and Grandma instead. She laid the phone down and tickled me some more and I laughed and laughed. Never seen so many big people get so excited!

Well, I have Aunt Sherry and Uncle Jason to myself tonight, my cousins are spending the night at their dad's. We're about to go for our walk then it's dinnertime!

8:15 AM Good morning! I am 6 months old today! I woke up in such a good mood today! Aunt Sherry and I took Uncle Jason to work, then dropped the cousins off at school. She took me in the gas station after we got gas in the car, and everyone fussed over me. I love being told I'm a pretty girl! By the time we got home, I was ready for my bottle. I'm done burping now, and I am ready for a nap. I like to sleep! I will write more later!

8:45 PM Aunt Sherry took us to the park after the kids got out of school today. I couldn't play on the stuff like Jon and Emmy because I can't sit up yet. But one day soon, I'm gonna swing in the big kid swings! I guess for now I'll have to be happy with my swing at home. Aunt Sherry pulled a green thing off a tree, and I reached for it and tried to get it in my mouth. But Aunt Sherry wouldn't let me eat it. I don't know why, it looked like the green stuff she ate for lunch. When I can walk, I'm going to the park, and when she's not looking, I'm going to eat one!

After we left the park, we picked up Uncle Jason from work and went home. Emily made a pallet on the floor to do her homework and she let me lay there and help her. I tried to eat her pencil, but she wouldn't let me. I just want something to bite on, teething hurts!

We ate dinner, and I got carrots again! I love carrots! I didn't even make a real big mess this time! I'm getting the hang of eating.

After dinner, we all went for a walk. Everyone took turns pushing my stroller. I like going for walks, because everybody talks and laughs. I try to join in the conversation, but I don't think they understand what I'm saying. Give them time, they'll learn.

I took my bath after the walk. I got to play with my new rubber ducky. Wish I could float like that. Rubber ducky let me pick him up and chew on him. Now if the cat would just hold still.......

Well, I've had my bottle, played in my swing for a while, and my eyes hardly want to stay open. I guess it's time for bed. Aunt Sherry just said so. She said "I love you Katy" and I tried to say "I love you too" but it came out ah-goo. Maybe in the morning......

August 24, 2004

Hi. My name is Katy. I will be 6 months old tomorrow. I live with my Aunt Sherry, Uncle Jason, and cousins Jon and Emily. My Nana and Great Grandma live close by. I just moved in with them two weeks ago. I will go back to live with my parents one day.

I had a rough day today. I didn't smile as much as usual. I have huge cheeks because my face muscles are well developed from smiling so much! Aunt Sherry tells me all the time my face is about to burst if I smile any bigger. What can I say, I'm a happy girl. But I was in a melancholy mood today. Just wanted to rest. I'm cutting a tooth, so my shirt stays soggy, even though my Aunt changes my clothes about 6 times a day. Soggy shirts aren't the most comfortable.

Aunt Sherry and Uncle Jason bought me a new walker. I really like the bright colors. It is red and purple and yellow, and has bright toys, and this shiny thing. Every time I see the shiny thing, there's another baby in it! When I smile, she smiles! She's really pretty, I wish I knew her name. Maybe one day. My feet touch the floor, just barely, when I'm in my walker. I can't wait until I grow big and strong enough to chase Aunt Sherry down the hall in it! Guess I have to learn to crawl first.

Aunt Sherry makes me eat my food from a shiny thing with yellow rubber on the end of it. I think she said spoon? I don't know, but the stuff she puts in it sure is tasty. I get rice cereal twice a day, and I'm getting the hang of not spitting it all out. Aunt Sherry makes me eat peas too, and I kinda like them, but I much prefer carrots. I ate most of a jar the first time Aunt Sherry fed them to me. They are really good! The only thing I don't like about eating lunch is that I make such a mess I have to take a bath. Dinner is the same. I get more cereal and applesauce and some kind of vegetable. I can't wait until I have teeth so I can have a chicken leg! They look so tasty! I tried to get Aunt Sherry's the other night, but she wouldn't let me have it.

I really love my Uncle Jason. He's funny. He tries to make me laugh by making funny faces at me or tickling my tummy. I'm not ticklish on my tummy, just my feet, but I smile at him anyway because I like the attention. He's a nice guy, and we're getting used to each other pretty well.

I have two big cousins to play with. They love to put me in the stroller and take me for walks. I love that. We live in a really tiny town where everyone knows us, and we're not allowed to go past Mrs. Susie's house, so we're safe here. They take me outside sometimes when they go to play with their friends. Emily and her friend Taylor like to take me to Taylor's house next door. Taylor's mommy likes to hold me and play with me.

Aunt Sherry and Uncle Jason take me to church too. I go to class with them, and have two friends my age in there! Shelby is two weeks older than me and she has a lot of hair! I can't wait until I get hair! Right now, Aunt Sherry says I have red peach fuzz. Haleigh is the oldest, she is 11 months old. She doesn't have much hair either. All three of us get passed around the grownups when their arms get tired from holding us. I'm really good in church too. I fell asleep during Pastor Gregg's sermon last Sunday. He was joking with Aunt Sherry after church that I know a good sermon when I hear it! The people at church really seem to love me. There wasn't but a week for Aunt Sherry to get things together for me to come live with her. She said we have the best church family in the world because they pulled together and made sure I had plenty of clothes, diapers, and a bed. My first trip to church with them I got tons of stuff! There were a bunch of pretty bags with onesies, rattles, binkys, clothes, shampoo, lotion, bibs, and all kinds of stuff! And Mrs. Shawna (Shelby's mom) dropped off a huge box of stuff today. Mrs. Shawna is the one who came to pick me and Aunt Sherry up from the airport too, so she was the first one I got to meet.

Aunt Sherry had to go to a PTA meeting tonight, so she left me home with Uncle Jason and Jon and Emmy. I was happy for a little while, but I missed Aunt Sherry. When she came home, I was in Uncle Jason's lap crying. But she picked me up and I quit crying right away. She took me to her room and laid down with me for a little while and I felt much better.

Well, I had my bottle while Aunt Sherry was gone, but it's time for my dinner now. Then I will take my bath and go to bed. I share a room with Emily so I'm not scared at night.

Bye bye!
